Karuizawa T-SITE Complete Guide | Nearby Accommodation & How to Enjoy
Karuizawa T-SITE, a new commercial complex directly connected to Karuizawa Station's north exit, opened in March 2026. Discover how to combine this exciting new destination with a private sauna villa stay in Kitakaruizawa for a fresh way to enjoy Karuizawa.
What is Karuizawa T-SITE?
Karuizawa T-SITE is a commercial complex directly connected to JR Karuizawa Station's north exit. Jointly operated by Mitsubishi Estate, AQUAIGNIS, and CCC, it features 17 shops across 6 buildings themed around "Eat, Relax, Restore." Built on a former railway site, it creates a new identity for the station's north side—food, culture, and wellness—complementing the south side's outlet shopping.
Just 1 hour from Tokyo by bullet train and 1 minute walk from the ticket gates.
Highlights
Dining: Kasaan Sanpi Ryoron by celebrity chef Masahiro Kasahara, Sushiya Ono featured in NY Times, and Smokemanship for Texas BBQ with 15-hour smoked meats.
Café & Sweets: I'm donut? for famous fresh donuts (first in the region), LE CHOCOLAT DE H by world-renowned patissier Hironobu Tsujiguchi.
Wine: Château Mercian with about 30 Japanese wines for tasting, and aVin stand with 300+ curated selections.
For sauna lovers: AQUAIGNIS GARDEN SPA features a large bath and 2 types of saunas.

Where to Stay
T-SITE's own "HACIENDA KARUIZAWA" (grand opening April 2026) is a designer hotel with refined rooms and the convenience of a station-front location.
For a different kind of experience, consider THE FOREST SAUNA in Kitakaruizawa—just 30 minutes by car via the scenic Onioshi Highway. What sets it apart is the private HARVIA barrel sauna and natural spring water bath, exclusively yours in a whole-villa rental surrounded by deep forest. Unlike the shared AQUAIGNIS spa at T-SITE, here you can enjoy the sauna as many times as you want, on your own schedule.
Experience the contrast between "bustling Karuizawa" and "tranquil Kitakaruizawa" in one trip—T-SITE for food, culture, and shopping by day, then retreat to your private forest sauna in the evening.
Access & Getting Around
T-SITE is directly connected to JR Karuizawa Station's north exit. About 1 hour from Tokyo by Shinkansen, 1-minute walk from the gates. Parking: about 150 spots (30 min free, cashless only).
From THE FOREST SAUNA: about 30 minutes by car via Route 146 and Onioshi Highway, with views of Mt. Asama. Stop at Onioshidashi Park or Asama Ranch along the way.
Recommended flow: Morning at T-SITE for brunch & shopping → Afternoon drive via Onioshi Highway → Evening check-in at THE FOREST SAUNA.
Combining T-SITE & THE FOREST SAUNA
Sauna lovers: Try the "Double Sauna" plan—experience AQUAIGNIS GARDEN SPA's two saunas, then enjoy THE FOREST SAUNA's private barrel sauna. Two different sauna experiences in one day.
Wine lovers: Buy Nagano wines at aVin stand or Château Mercian to enjoy at THE FOREST SAUNA's kitchen. Pick up Shinshu ingredients at Waza Mart for BBQ.
SHARE LOUNGE is open until 10 PM—stop by on your way home on Day 2 for coffee by the fireplace before catching the Shinkansen.
